About Me
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, which means I can diagnose and treat mental health disorders, but I cannot prescribe meds. I have been in the counseling field for almost twenty years, starting in 2005. I graduated from SUNY Oswego with a Masters in counseling services in 2010. Following my curiosity of combining counseling and food, in 2012, I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I started my first business as a Health Coach. After having my first child, and wanting more stability in my career, I then transitioned to the non profit arena. I spent seven years working in homes around Onondaga County, NY doing family therapy, and providing clinical therapy in a visitation center to parents and kids in foster/kinship care. During the Covid pandemic, I transitioned to private practice in order to be home for my children. I have loved being home to be more present for my family, and myself.
I’ve been trained in many modalities, but am drawn to a systems approach. I don’t think we exist in a bubble, independent from our environment. I believe we are a product of our environment, we respond to the people around us, and that can shift our behaviors. Relationships are the cornerstone of how I conduct my therapy. I am interested in learning about what creates relational trauma in our lives, and how that impacts the relationships with ourselves, and others.
my IFS journey
Growing up, I was a shy and creative child. I’ve always been a people pleaser. People pleasing is a part of me that was created to get a need met. If I was a good girl, I knew I’d get the love, attention, and affection I needed to succeed. I know many other people can relate to this part. I received a lot of positive attention because I followed all the rules. However, only listening to these parts for years caused a natural opposite reaction where I felt the need to rebel, and an addiction part was created to respond to the pressure the people pleasing part put on me. The addiction part was trying to give me some relief, because I was exhausted from trying so hard to be perfect. Through my own therapy, and learning Internal Family Systems, I have been able to find Self. Self feels calm, clear, connected, curious, creative, courageous, compassionate, and confident. When I am in Self, I am balanced. Instead of swinging from one extreme side (perfectionism), to the other (depression), I can feel more in control of my decisions. This has helped me in my personal relationships, my relationship with my children, and feeling more consistent in my own health goals. I now set healthy boundaries for myself, I can drink alcohol in moderation, and rest when I feel I need to rest. I don’t shame myself or criticize myself like I used to. Using this approach has given me a whole new life, and I am so grateful for it!
I would love to work with you to teach you what it took me YEARS to figure out!

Personal life
When I am not working, I am a mom of two boys. I am a dog mom, to Millie Grace, my therapy companion. She always knows when someone is upset, if she is in the room during a session she may come over to say “hi.”
I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, and an aunt. I am local to Syracuse, and love to garden and explore the woods in the summer time. In the winter you will find me by the fireplace keeping warm.
Before I was a mom, my life was all about live music. I found a wonderful community of like minded people, who were open, accepting of differences, and welcoming. I love creating this sense in my life now, and hope to welcome you into an accepting space of safety and genuine care.
